While the Mortal Kombat X trailer does a great job of teasing Tanya it’s only a set-up for the larger reveal. Essentially, Tanya swings her way completely through Cassie Cage’s torso, coming out with her heart and intestines on the other side.
Only rather than leaving players hanging, NetherRealm Studios has decided to let the full scene play out, and boy is it gruesome.
It also wouldn’t be a character reveal trailer without a look at Tanya’s fatality for Mortal Kombat X. Unlike Jason Voorhees, the first DLC character added to Mortal Kombat X, we expect Tanya to be focused on delivering less damage per hit, but higher hit combos. Since there is no HUD during the Mortal Kombat X trailer it’s hard to glean just how damaging Tanya’s move set might be. It’s unclear which moves are specific to Tanya’s three variations, but it appears at least one of them will feature teleports and one will focus on a staff weapon. In celebration of Tanya’s release, NetherRealm have unveiled a new trailer that provides a brief overview of the fighter’s move set and concludes with a gruesome fatality. Up next for Mortal Kombat X is the release of the Tanya DLC bundle and Klassic Pack 1 costume add-on, both of which will hit for Kombat Pack owners tomorrow, June 2nd. The MK X developer has a robust DLC schedule planned, and that includes new character reveals, gameplay trailers, and fighting game variation breakdowns. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Now that Mortal Kombat X has released for all fighting game fans to enjoy, most figured that the NetherRealm Studios hype train would die down.
